Ian Mair joined The Smith-Free Group in August 2013 after working at Morris James LLP and Smith Katzenstein & Jenkins LLP, two of Wilmington, Delaware’s most respected business transaction and litigation firms. Ian worked as a volunteer field organizer for Obama for America during the 2008 campaign and election monitor for several state and municipal elections. He also worked in various agribusiness ventures during college (including one owned by former Delaware Congressman Hal Haskell) and with several notable indie bands in the greater Philadelphia and Wilmington region. Ian possess a unique social media acumen and proficiency, having worked as a professional social media manager for several musical clients and the Delaware based public relations firm Gillespie Hall.
Ian focuses primarily on the firm’s intellectual property and entertainment clients, working closely with Jim Free and Alicia Smith attending and covering hearings as well as lobbying Congress on behalf of creators. Ian has helped set up countless educational events, briefings and film screenings both on and off the Hill. He also works with Smith-Free’s financial technology clients, composing the weekly fintech newsletter alongside his colleague Andy Barbour.
Ian graduated Magna Cum Laude from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English in 2009.
